Delete your Apna Records account
You can delete your account, or a single workspace you own, at any time. Deletion starts after a 7-day grace period in which you can still cancel and download an export of your records.
In the app
- Open Apna Records and sign in.
- Go to More → Privacy and your data → Delete account.
- Tap Open account deletion, give a reason, tick the confirmation and tap Delete my account.
- Confirm it is you with your fingerprint, face or screen lock, or with your master passphrase.
- Optional: export your records first (More → Privacy and your data → Export your data). Exports stay downloadable for 7 days.
On the web (no phone needed)
- Open the sign-in page below and sign in with the email code sent to your account address.
- Open Delete account, choose your whole account or one workspace you own, confirm with a fresh email code (or a passkey, if you added one), and submit.

What is deleted
- All documents and files you stored (only Apna Records’ encrypted copies — files on your phone, WhatsApp or Google Drive are never touched).
- Profiles, family tree, checklists, extracted fields, reminders and notifications.
- Vault keys, your passphrase/recovery key wraps, trusted devices, sessions and push registrations.
- Your email address and sign-in details (for account deletion).
- Workspaces you own are deleted for every member. In someone else’s workspace only your membership and your private data are removed; records you added to a shared vault stay with that workspace.
- Support tickets and export archives.
What is kept, and for how long
- Purchase and subscription records (plan, dates, Google Play order reference; no documents, name or email): As long as Indian tax and accounting law requires (up to 8 years).
- Minimal security and audit entries (event type, time and opaque ids; never names, emails or document contents): 400 days after the event, then deleted automatically. A workspace with a document under legal hold keeps its entries until the hold is released.
- A record of the deletion request (dates and state only): Kept with the billing records.
Backups and logs
Encrypted database backups expire on their own schedule (daily backups within 36 days, monthly backups within 366 days); deleted files can remain in storage versioning for up to 30 days and server logs (which never contain document contents) for up to 181 days. If a backup is ever restored, completed deletions are carried out again.
Subscriptions
Deleting stops renewal of Google Play subscriptions bought for the deleted workspaces. You can also manage or cancel them yourself in Google Play. Google Play subscriptions
